Spanish practice guide

Best Spanish verb conjugation practice

The best Spanish verb practice is narrow, repeated and easy to start. Do not begin by memorizing every tense. Start with the verbs and forms that appear constantly: ser, estar, tener, hacer, ir, poder, querer and decir.

Start with high-frequency verbs

Spanish learners usually get more value from mastering ten common verbs than from skimming a huge verb table. Practice these verbs in short sessions until the most common forms feel automatic.

Practice by tense, not by giant lists

Use one tense at a time: present first, then preterite, then imperfect. This keeps the task small enough for daily repetition and makes mistakes easier to understand.

Use active recall

Reading a conjugation chart is useful for orientation, but it is not the same as recall. A better drill asks for one form, gives immediate feedback, then repeats missed forms until they stop feeling fragile.
